Job Description
Lead Database Analyst – DIRECT HIRE – WILL RELOCATE

Top level expertise in support of a variety of relational database environments, including DB2 for z/OS, Oracle, DB2 UDB for Open Systems, and SQL Server from Microsoft. Administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures which ensure the integrity and security of all company database structures. Help design and implement physical database designs. Help resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, and distributed data issues. This position will need experience and ability to perform these duties with minimal guidance and input. Responsible for monitoring the work of team members.

Lead Database Analyst in this position must have the ability to:

• Convey to others the proper use of databases by sharing technical knowledge when working in the Mainframe, Unix, Linux and Windows environments.
• Participate in systems performance tuning and capacity planning for DB2/Oracle/SQL Server databases.
• Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems, such as the installation of new databases.
• Develop method for integrating different products so they work properly together, such as customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs.
• Assure proper data protection procedures exist for backup and recovery of databases.
• Provide project management skills in support of company initiatives.
• Provide guidance and instruction for other database administrators in the performance of their job duties.
• Design, develop and implement software routines which automate repetitive database administration tasks and monitor for exceptional database conditions which require immediate notice.
• Participate in the evaluation, selection and implementation of database tools provided by different software providers.
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish a project.

Required Qualifications: Lead Database Analyst

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5 years of experience working with database administration across Mainframe, Unix, Linux, and Windows environments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
